Night Hoops Night Hoops is a late night basketball program for youth 13-18 years of age. It's goal is to use basketball as a vehicle to promote asset development in a supported environment. Night Hoops offers youth the opportunity to experience the thrill of playing on an organized basketball team. Program is currently active in Vancouver and Burnaby....

  • Night Hoops is FREE for all players.
  • The league is governed by the Night Hoops Society. The Board of Directors are represented by MCFD, Vancouver Park Board, Vancouver School Board, Vancouver Police Department, Justice Institute, MoreSports, Basketball BC and the Greater Van. Basketball Officials Association.
  • Preferred placement goes to youth who are referred to the program by a social service agency. Teams are set by the Night Hoops League Coordinator.
  • Players are to commit to Friday night practices and games each Saturday night for the duration of the season.

Female basketball players wanted

The summer season will begin in a few months...either June or July and our team as usual is looking for 1 or 2 strong post players (5'10 or taller preferred... to guard 6'1 players), 1-2 strong 3 point shooters with an intermediate to advanced skill level. We have 2-4 spots to fill with players who are looking to play long term and who mesh well with the rest of us. Must...

...be able to come to a bball drop-in before joining the team.

Where: Strathcona Community Centre
When: Thursday evenings
Time: games are either 6pm, 7:30 or 9pm
Skill level: Intermediate/Advanced (can get very competitive) - a few ex university players, a handful of ex-college players, everyone else played at competitive high school level
Teams: there is usually 5-7 teams
Seasons: there are 3 seasons...fall/winter, winter/spring and a short summer season.
Cost: TBD - about $40 per person depending on # of people on the team
Our team: fun, friendly yet competitive group of gals who play well with each other and are very team oriented (there are no "me" players). Also, our team ranges in age from early 20's to late 30's...so age is not really an issue.

New slot added for Co-Ed Basketball at Dunbar CC

Good News: due to large demand and a full Wednesday program, a new Thursday slot has been opened. Get some exercise and have fun playing basketball on a pick-up basis. Games start at 6:30 sharp. Registered players must arrive on time to ensure their spot. Both registered players and drop-in players must sign-in at reception. Maximum of 20 players.

West End Community Centre Gym Programs

The West End community in the heart of downtown lacks a gym for use for the weekends. Finally, the West End Community Centre has sport programs for adults!

  • Indoor Soccer - 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM
  • Volleyball and Basketball - 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
  • Badminton - 3:15 PM to 4:45 PM
  • Badminton Court Rentals - 3:15 PM to 4:45 PM

Outdoor Basketball Court Kitsilano Beach

Newly surfaced in hot colours this court is open from the May long weekend through the Labour day weekend. The court is now plexipaved in purple, light blue with red maple leafs and the "Kits Beach" logo is in yellow. The improvements are a result of the efforts of two former National team players, Howard Kelsey and Ron Putzi. The court is spectacularly set on Kits Beach with the North Shore mountains in the backdrop Kits Beach is known around the world as one of the places to play outdoor ball. Please note players are asked to respect the residents by observing all park bylaws.

Outdoor Basketball Court on Granville Island

On Granville Island by the False Creek Community Centre. This court was converted from the third of the tennis courts on Granville Island. The court has break-away rims, glass backboards, lights, and is well protected from the wind. As well you have the nice back drop of Alder Bay behind the court....

...The court is multi purpose and holds community centre programs on it so call 257-8195 for schedules and info on programs you may be interested in. Please note full court is scheduled only for certain days and players are asked to respect the community by not swearing, no drugs or alcohol. The court is outlined in red below:
