Skiing Silverstar Vernon BC

Our trip to Silver Star last year was such a hit that we decided we would return for more fun. Travelling from Vancouver, B.C. the drive was very scenic and we arrived just under 5 hours.

We stayed at Creekside, which was a cozy 2br condo fully furnished with everything that we needed. The location was perfect, a true ski in ski out… just steps from the Silver Queen Chair.

The weather during our 1 week stay at Spring Break was awesome. It snowed most of the evenings and sunshine in the morning. We were lucky enough to experience a variety of types of skiing, including downhill skiing, classic and skate skiing. Some of our favourite downhill runs were; Milkey Way, Whiskey Jack, Middle Dipper, Christmas Bowl. My son’s favourite is the Peanut Trail, full of bumps traversing through the trees.

Star Kids offers a fantastic kids camp for private and group lessons. My son enjoyed skiing with other kids while we had a few hours to explore the Nordic trails.

We enjoyed taking the Alpine Meadows Chair or Summit Chair to the top and skiing over to Sovereign Lakes Nordic Centre. With more than 100kms of trail between Silver Star and Sovereign Lakes, there is something for everyone.

The village was small and quaint but had just enough stores and restaurants without being too commercial. Our favourite lunch and coffee place was Bugaboo’s. Fantastic home-made soups, sandwiches and the delicious baked treats!Between the incredible spring ski conditions, variety of downhill and nordic trails and all the other great family activities—tube town, skating pond, kid friendly restaurants.

Silver Star really is one of the perfect places for a family vacation.
