Vancouver has 23 community centres. Each one is jointly operated by the Vancouver Park Board and the local community association. All provide wonderful services to the public.
Here are a few of the hilighted ones:
Children's Programs - All community centres offer a number of children, preschool and youth programs. Douglas Park is noted for having one of the largest out of school care programs and Kerrisdale Community Centre wows them in the spring and summer converting their arena floor into the Play Palace (pictured above), a combination of slides, bounces, obstacle course, riders and more.
Weight Room - the Kitsilano Community Centre has the largest and most equiped weightroom. Most other centres have various sized weight rooms. Some of the weight rooms are Park Board facilities and their passes are usable at all Park Board weight rooms. Others are Association weight rooms which their passes are not tranferable to other facilities unless noted.
Room Rentals - When there are no community programs in the community centres most will rent open rooms. Two poplular facilities are Coal Harbour with a waterfront view and West Point Grey with and old Heritage mansion Aberthau.
Arts - The Roundhouse Community Centre is the arts centre of the city. Others like West Point Grey and West End have strong pottery clubs.
Waterfront - if you want to paddle the False Creek Community Centre is for you. They offer canoeing and kayaking lessons and a user group who take boats out for recreational paddles. If you are more competitive the Racing Canoe Club is there for Dragon Boating and competitivie paddling.
Check all of the community centres at the Vancouver Park Board website.
EIDAN Youth Movement
at the JCCGV
Sept 13, 2008 - June 13, 2009.
Every Saturday from 3-6pm...
EIDAN is the JCCGV's Youth Movement led by graduates of the EIDAN School of Madrichim.
EIDAN encompasses children's group activities (peulot) while inspiring Jewish Journeys and social ties within the movement and beyond into our community.
EIDAN includes informal education, physical activity, and creative arts fostering Jewish identity and a strong connection to Israel.
What is a Youth Movement?
A youth movement allows children and youth to reach their full potential in a healthy, social, purposeful, fun and thoughtful setting. Without involvement in a youth movement, children and youth miss out on growing together while learning useful tools which cultivate involved community leaders and healthy adults.
EIDAN Grades 3-7
Join us for group games, sports, drama, shira (singing) and much more.
Each grade is formed into its own group.
